Labor Day in Leavenworth / by Ray Phung

John-Paul on his flash attempt of Andy's Arete, V5 in Leavenworth.  These are at the Mt. Home boulders, which sit high above the city of Leavenworth.  It's in clear cut and has a very lovely view.

A short post this time! Over the long Labor Day holiday this year, Leavenworth was experiencing some relatively cool weather for September, so I grabbed my friend Jenn and drove up.  We met up Kevin, who you may recognize from other adventure posts, as well as some other Portland folk who also made the trek up to utilize the nice weather window.

While killing time between climbs, I snapped this lovely portrait of Kevin.  Egg Rock boulders, Leavenworth, WA

I also parsed down my camera equipment for this trip, only schlepping around the relatively "new" Pentax 6x7.  It feels almost liberating to take one camera, one roll of film, and shoot only 10 shots.  On this roll, I got 7 shots a really loved, and I am sharing them with you all now.  70% success rate isn't so shabby I don't think!

Kevin on his ascent of Sleeping Lady, V2.  This boulder is an overhanging face that puts you directly over the rushing Icicle Creek.

Some pups we met at the Egg Rock crag.  They belonged to a lovely couple who are from my home state of Arkansas.

Also, to finish out the roll, I snapped a shot of my lovely roommates as they departed the house.  I really love how it turned out.

Falling on this problem is not really an option.  Either you hit the rocks to your right, or you hit the shallow, rushing water to your left.  Not ideal.  But super fun.

Captured this photo of Jacqui and Hanna as they left the house.  Love these guys a lot.

Enjoy!

Photos were taken with my Pentax 6x7 (MLU version!) on Kodak Ektar 100 film.
