Behind the Camera
Greetings! First off, I would like to thank you for visiting my website and venturing over this far. My name is Ray Phung, and I am a photographer based in Portland, Oregon, who enjoys partaking in a wide array of photographic endeavors. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest since 2009. Prior to that, I was attending college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where I graduated with a B.A. in Economics and a minor in Environmental Science. Before that, I spent my formative years in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas.
Over the years, I have become an avid climber, hiker, and an enthusiast of any activity that lets me explore the great outdoors. And in these adventures, I always try to have at least one camera with me to document the experience. I love landscape and adventure photography, especially here in the PNW, but I also enjoy portraiture and street photography.
I love shooting film. The look, the thoughtfulness, and the quality of shots makes me really excited about photography. I have an array of vintage cameras that I rotate through, and I enjoy experimenting with different film emulsions, both in 35mm, medium, and large format. I have recently started developing black and white film in the comfort of my bathroom, which itself has been a fun adventure. I also love using my digital SLR to get certain shots. Lets face it - it's all a matter of using the right tool for the right job.
I would love to work on any assignment, project or collaboration. So please don't hesitate to contact me.
